Dungeon in the Castle? Where?

I have been thru the Castle starting at the barracks 3 times. I feel like I have checked every door, but can't seen to fin the rumored dungeon. I did find a mine entrance and the way out the back to the farms. Does this dungeon exist?

The Royal Mines is the Dungeon, follow it down. You won't be disappointed, cussing maybe but worth it. Can also Mine Ore with pickaxes - some dropped as loot some crafted once learned! Instead of shattering Square Stone Structures mine them with pickax, can mine the levels in Real Time. At the end of the Mines is where you seek or is it At the end of the Mines is where it seeks you. You'll figure it out!

The only level II spell I have is fireball. I have beat the castle, Dragon cave, crypt but haven't found any spellbooks for the level 2 spells like poison skin. Should I have found them by now?

Topic "Magic Guide ver 1.94 spoiler" tells you the description of the Power Boxes 1 & 2 along wth the Runes used, the order in which runes are used as with the power box when you use your runeboard to cast and learn spells. Can't remember what spells Fairy Mistress Arcane Book teaches you if it was in it. I do know poison skin was one i personally kept in a slot and used all times in battle. "Spell Spoiler" goes more into Power Box 3 (Med) with runes used to gain more spells. Magic Eater drops Med power box!

I was under the understanding that the rune board and runes gave the means to cast the spells, but you had to actually lean it from a spell book to perform it.

Not really, two spells can be bought that show combination of runes + power box to use on runeboard. Fairy Mistress Arcane Book will give a set number of spells unless you already figured out on your own how to create the, then you have a book for a range weapon + points towards Wisdom. Not everything going to be handed out like certain story driven recipes, you learn how to create one spell (torch) when get first Runeboard or was it first rune. You have to explore combinations in spell, weapon, equipment, trade, potion crafting where each area will start you off with how to instructions, the rest is what can you create as new items/ materials appear example: your told two Scales make shield but what happens if you keep trying to add one more then another how about 10. Thats what made it interesting, annoying, frustrating and exciting. Experimenting at its finest. Hope helps sorry get carried away when writing, why i usually don't but with all i learned here in forums from the cool people that posted their findings. i must give back not just what i learn here but also what i discovered on my own through experimenting, side tracking. man I sure was making this game harder. I went out and cast a bunch of lvl 2 spells and now I am using, lantern, poison skin and regen. Wow what a difference.

Yup, magic light & create food 3 definitely cut back cost spent buying also. Keep trying out different combinations for spells, also crafting as well. Also Remember you can reset points for your skills and stats which you will once hit level 40. Experiment with that also along with equipment that increase stats + skills as well. The room above Fairy Realm entrance in Royal Gardens has the person who can let you reset your points plus he is also in Castle Dark - go thru Mountain Passage to get there. Good Luck! You'll need it!
